The joys of US air travel

DALLAS/FORT WORTH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT—I'm at the Admirals Club in Terminal C right now, if anyone wants to stop in and say hello.

My flight to Washington is delayed indefinitely, so I am hopping the next available flight. I'll end up being an hour late into D.C., which is OK, I guess. As long as my bag gets there, too. I hate checking bags, and there's no way around it on this trip. I had already checked it for my original flight, but the woman here in the club assures me it should be pulled and placed on my new flight.

It's a middle seat, all that was available, but at least she got me in an exit row. And at least there'll be laptop power on this plane, according to Seat Guru.

Same drill with the wireless internet access here. I thought it might be better in an Admirals Club that was located in American's home airport, but no dice. Also, you have to pay for everything. Sure, they gave me a free drink coupon (I wish I liked Bloody Marys), but there's a freaking menu on all the tables here. Seven bucks for a fruit cup. Eight for a sandwich. Seriously, what's the point of Club membership if you have to pay for everything once you're inside? I'm definitely spoiled by Qantas, and I'm so using the British Airways Club at Dulles, and not the American one—they'll have free booze.

Looks like the weather is going to be nice in Washington—mid 70s and sunny. Perfect, especially for an afternoon baseball game. I can't wait to see everybody back in Washington. We should have a good crowd out tonight, visiting some of my favourite haunts. Brilliant.

Well, boarding in 10, so I might actually suck it up and buy a sandwich. It's not like they feed you on these flights.
