Throwing the ball!

Now that’s what I’m talking about. Your Fightin’ Texas Aggies put a good, old-fashioned ass-whipping on the University of Louisiana-Monroe over the weekend. And, shock of all shocks, they threw the ball downfield!

The Aggies put up 237 passing yards en route to a 54-14 pasting of the Warhawks at Kyle Field. Tight end Martellus “Money” Bennett—my favourite player—caught six passes for 98 yards, and wide receiver Kerry Franks hauled in five for 82 and a touchdown.

And the running game was just as good. The Aggies gained 310 rushing yards, on the strength of Mike Goodson, who had 113 yards on 11 carries. Backup quarterback Jerrod Johnson came in during the third quarter, and himself carried the ball four times for 49 yards and two touchdowns.

A perfect warm-up for the game Thursday night at Miami. I plan to take Friday off so I can watch—I think it starts at 9.45am. Kegs ‘n’ eggs?

Good weekend, if a little quiet. I felt like crap on Friday, fighting a cold or something, so I stayed in. But that didn’t stop my roommate and I from heading to Manly on Saturday afternoon and setting up shop at one or three bars. The, um, scenery was really nice.

Spring is arriving, kids. And not a moment too soon.
